Project Challenges
1. Strict assembly standards
Consumers choose EVs based on three key criteria: SAFETY – SUSTAINABILITY – EFFICIENCY. Therefore, the motor assembly line must ensure absolute quality and meet international standards.
2. Productivity & timeline
The factory set the following goals:
- Productivity: 40 units/hour (compared to 25 units/hour previously).
- Capacity: 100,000 vehicles/year within 5 years.
This requires a comprehensive technological solution with rapid deployment, adaptable to product variations and scaling needs.
3. Emerging technology
At the start of the project, the EV market was dominated by global giants such as Tesla and BYD. Electric motor manufacturing technology in Vietnam was virtually unprecedented, creating significant challenges in terms of access, design, and implementation.
4. Intense competition
The project attracted the participation of many automation contractors both domestically and internationally (China, India, South Korea). In particular, a competitor who had previously implemented an assembly line at the factory created even greater pressure.
Our Technology Solution
As the turnkey solution provider, Tan Phat ETEK implemented the electric motor assembly line based on three pillars: SAFETY – TECHNOLOGY – AUTOMATION.
1. Core technologies

- EOL Testing: Leak detection, error identification, and defect detection directly on the assembly line.
- Aging: Product aging technology to ensure motors operate reliably under harsh conditions.
- Class 9 Cleanroom: EU-standard cleanroom for battery and motor production, controlling dust and impurities.
2. Comprehensive Automation
- Automated assembly line with dedicated stations for assembly, inspection, and monitoring.
- Semi-automated solutions for each module to ensure flexible operation.
- Scalable line connection to increase productivity when expanding production.
- Automated quality inspection to minimize product defects.
3. Optimized Design – Practical Approach
The project consisted of more than 100 processes and 40 assembly stations with a high level of complexity. During implementation, Tan Phat ETEK flexibly adjusted layouts, modified designs per customer requests, and provided backup material solutions to ensure progress.
